The Drinks Cabinet spent this afternoon at this years Imbibe. Imbibe is traditionally the best showcase for what is going on in the drinks business and can give us a view on what trends are making there way into the mainstream.

This years show was packed to the brim with hipster bar guys and topped up with the usual array of drink entrepreneurs. Topline this year what did we see..?

  1. Gin, gin and more gin (no letting up here but we are sure that the market is now pretty saturated).

  2. There is something in the tea leaves…tea based infused spirits and mixers are on there way into the public conscious.

  3. Premium mixers. people seem to have the message that it matters what you put in your spirit. too many to survive but the best of them will do well. PS Schweppes know this and were there in style.

  4. New and interesting spirits and liqueurs from obscure places are still turning up. Some will fly some won’t.

  5. A little like mixers bar snacks are making a come back with a more gourmet take on the old classics. Adult snacking to be enjoyed with a drink is still an area with huge growth and nobody really doing it brilliantly well.

That’s as much as we remember after quite a few samples but if anything comes back to us we will let you know.
