This announcement admittedly had me gawking at my computer screen, slightly mistrusting of whether it is a viable system.  But that, I’m sure, is a jaded opinion coming from someone whose country (South Africa) would find self check-out laughable.

 

Upon further examination of the concept, I am in absolute awe of the retail advances and innovation that Amazon is embarking on.  Staying true to their mission of  being the everything store for everyone – they are committed to providing excellent services through the marriage of retail and technology.

 

Living in a fast-paced world where time is money and convenience is everything, retailers are charged with the challenge of keeping up with the rollercoaster of consumer demands.

These brands tend to pick one of three routes; cost-cutters, mainstream competitors, or pioneers.  The pioneers are in a league of their own, and none more so than amazon.  Skepticism about their break into the grocery market has raised many eyebrows due to their initial technology association.  But with innovation like this, those voices will be quickly muted.

 

Let’s hope one of the 2017 launches will land in London.
