From one Cabinet to another...
At The Cabinet, we have an archive full of drinks work, from new brand creation and brand redesigns, to celebratory limited editions. So as designers and innovators, we appreciate a fine piece of craftsmanship when we see it. When we read about Bowmore’s recent activation, we had to share it. Award-winning craftsman John Galvin created the Black Bowmore Archive Cabinet, which will house the complete Whisky collection, spanning from 1993 to 2016. This will form the centrepiece of an auction of Finest & Rarest Wines and Spirits in Hong Kong in spring 2021. With the five bottles of Whisky, along with the custom piece of furniture they’re housed in, expecting to fetch around $500,000, this is definitely something to marvel at. Plus, the proceeds of the sale will be donated to an Islay charity – the home of the Bowmore Distillery.
With the first release in 1993 as a 29 year old Whisky, and the ‘last cask’ being released as a 50 year old Whisky back in 2016, the value of Black Bowmore has increased magnificently over the years, which is not only down to the quality and taste, but also it’s increasing rarity.
A truly beautiful activation, paying homage to the distilleries heritage and the spirits growing history - congratulations to Bowmore for this spectacular collection piece, and congratulations to the eventual winning bidder, who not only takes away this gorgeous cabinet, but will also be invited to the Bowmore distillery for a tasting of Bowmore’s rarest and oldest single malts!
